1 Miami 31, Nebraska 30
            Jan. 2 1984, Orange Bowl game
Who could forget the fourt-quarter moment that defined coaching legend Tom Osborne's career and catapulted the Hurricanes to their first national championship? With Miami leading, 31-30, Osborne wne for a two-point conversion instead of the safer extra-point attempt. UM safety Ken Calhoun batted away the pass to seal the dramatic victory.

2 Boston College 47, Miami 45
        
Nov. 23 1984, at Miami
Hail Flutie! With six seconds left, Boston College quarterback Doug Flutie heaved a bomb from midfield toward the end zone. As time ran out, Gerard Phelan emerged from an end-zone crowd with the football cradled to his chest.

3 Miami 26, Florida State 25
            Oct. 3 1987, at Tallahassee
Down, 19-3, in the third quarter with their national championship hopes fading, the Hurricanes rallied and won it with less than a minute to play by stopping a two-point conversion pass.

4 Miami 31, Michigan 30
            Sept. 17 1988, at Ann Arbor, Mich.
With 7:16 left to play, the defending national champion Hurricanes trailed, 30-14. First came Steve Walsh's touchdown pass to tihgt end Rob Chudzinski, followed by a two-point conversion to Dale Dawkins. Next came a 48-yard TD pass to Cleveland Gary. The two-point conversion failed, but UM recovered its onside kick, and six plays later, freshman Carlos Huerta kicked the winning 29-yard field goal with 43 seconds left.
5 Miami 27, Notre Dame 10
         Nov. 25 1989, at Miami
The Hurricanes extended their winning streak at the Orange Bowl to 32 and stoped the Fighting Irish's two-year winning streak at 23. The frenzied crowd of 81,634 was the largest to see any event in the OB's history to date.

6 Miami 26, Penn State 10
            Nov. 3 1979, at Miami
For UM, the big win isn't always the title game. I's the victory that earns national attention and keeps it. The big win over the Nittany Lions came during coach Howard Schellenberger's first season and in quarterback Jim Kelly's first start. "We were 3-4 and had not beaten a team of any stature," Schnellenberger said.  "We beat Penn State, and suddenly the nonbelievers were believers."

7 Miami 17, FSU 16
            Nov. 16 1991, at Tallahassee
Wide Right I - FSU walk-on kicker Gerry Thomas' 34-yard field goal attempt fades barely to the right of the goalposts with 25 seconds left as No. 1 FSU falls to No. 2 Miami.

            Oct. 3 1992, at Miami
Wide Right II - This time, FSU's Dan Mowrey kicked wide right from 39 yards on the game's final play.

            Oct. 7 2000, at Miami
Wide Right III - This time, FSU's Matt Munyon kicked wide right from 49 yards on the game's final play.

8 Miami 28, Oklahoma 16
            Sept. 27 1986, at Miami
The Hurricanes, who were six-point underdogs, defeated the nation's No. 1 teamp in only the 20th No. 1 vs. No.2 game in college football history. Vinny Testaverde threw four touchdown passes, and Miami went on to be voted No. 1 for the first time since the second game of the 1984 season.

9 Miami 28, Oklahoma 16
            Sept. 27 1986, at Miami
Top-ranked Miami and No. 2 Penn State went down to the wire. Down, 14-10, with just more than three minutes remaining, Testaverde drove the Hurricanes from their 23 to the Penn State 6-yard line. However, with 18 seconds left, Pete Giftopoulos intercepted a Testaverde pass at the goal line to seal the national title for the Nittany Lions. Miami finished with 445 yards of offense and 22 first downs to only 162 and eight for Penn State, but seven turnoevers did UM in.

10 Miami 49, UCLA 45
                    Dec. 5, 1998, at Miami
The Hurricanes stunned the 10-0, third ranked Bruins with 21 fourth-quarter points. Edgerrin James, who ran for a school-record 299 yards, scored his third and final touchdown with 30 seconds remaining to give UM the victory and new hope for the future.

                    Oct. 19, 1962, at Miami
In front of 49,381 fans on a Friday night, George Mira set a school record by passing for 288 yards as the Hurricanes rallied four times to outlast the Terrapins. Mira also threw three touchdown passes.
